With the squad still settling down and a number of key players unavailable due to work commitments and late holidays Ellistown entered this game wanting to build on last weeks 1-1 away draw.

The game was a closely contested game with Ellistown creating the best of the chances in the first half. Despite great effort from both teams the half remained goalless in front of the clubs largest crowd for many years.

The crowd did not have to wait long for the first goal of the contest with Ellistown making an explosive start to the 2nd half. Elliott Webber chased down a long ball just beating the Ibstock keeper to the ball. Despite looking a goal all the way the ball struck the post. Luckily for Ellistown the rebounding ball struck a recovering defender and bounced into the unprotected goal.

At last Ellistown got a a bit of luck that their strong start to the season deserved.

This spared on the home team who went on the front foot looking for a 2nd goal. Despite a number of chances it took until mid way into the half for the 2nd goal to come. When it did it was a cracker from Korey Thompson who coolly lofted a long range effort from the right wing into the top corner.

A moments lack in concentration from the otherwise excellent Ellistown defence allowed Ibstock back into the game and made for a tense climax to the game. Both teams could have scored late on but the home team held on for what was to be their first win in over a season of football.

The club move onto a week of cup football and enter it with great confidence on the back of this victory and in the knowledge that this very young squad is coming together nicely. More players return for our next fixtures and we hope to have a full squad available in the next few weeks.
