Evesham welcomed Chepstow for the second match of the season.
A scrappy first half in which Evesham enjoyed slightly more of the possession but were mostly confined to their own half. The first half deadlock was only broken once, 20 minutes in, with a try from Chepstow they also converted.
Half time score Evesham 0 – Chepstow 7
In the second half Evesham paid for only having one sub – a couple of injuries meant they were now playing with only 14. The Chepstow backs took full advantage of their extra man running from deep for a try in the first 5 minutes (unconverted). Despite the man down throughout the second half the Evesham pack continued to get the better of the set pieces and make good ground ball in hand. Evesham’s Kieran Downey scoring in the left corner (unconverted) to keep the home side within sight quickly replied by a Chepstow try under the post (converted) and another down the left putting the score at 24-5. A win for Evesham now looking unlikely Evesham’s Tom Hedworth scored a forwards try down the left converted by Toby Turner. Heavy late pressure from Evesham couldn’t break Chepstow’s defence again and Chepstow sealed victory at the last with one more converted try.
