Aberdare began this game very strongly putting the opposition under pressure from the kick off. It was Fairwater to open the scoring first with a penalty to take an early lead at 3-0.
Aberdare however with a strong wind in their favour piled on the pressure against the home side and with tries from fullback James Daniels and winger Ben Bowen along with two conversions and three penalties from outside half Charlie Roberts in reply to 1 try and another penalty from Fairwater to end the first half Fairwater 13 Aberdare 23.
The second half saw Fairwater gradually gaining the advantage with their forwards but another penalty from Charlie increased the visitor’s lead to 13-26.
Aberdare were now struggling in the scrum and Fairwater narrowed the score to 20-26 with their second try of the game followed by another penalty conversion from Charlie Roberts to stretch the lead to 20-29.
With the clock running down Fairwater once again scored with a penalty conversion to close the gap to 6 points.
In the dying minutes of the game Fairwater were awarded a scrum on the visitor’s 5 metre line and with No 8 forward having been yellow carded earlier were struggling to contain the home sides pack with a 7 man scrum. After the referee had re-set the scrum a couple of times he then awarded Fairwater a penalty try to take the match Fairwater 30 Aberdare 29.
