We have less than a month to go until junior training starts again; we wanted to make you aware of the sessions that we are running this season.

Our junior club has again grown in all areas and so we have had to add in an extra boys session to accommodate the big increase in player numbers

The timetable will be as follows:

Training will run in term time only, please see link to term dates. Training will start on Tuesday the 2nd September 2014.

Tuesdays from 6:30pm until 7:30pm

Training for our under 9’s squad, (School years 3 and 4). This is a mixed gender session run by Sian Phillips and Kevin Phillips.

Training for our under 11 boys squad, (School years 5 and 6). This will be coached by Will Mclean.

Training for our Under 11 Girls Squad, (School years 5 and 6). This will be coached by Sharon Phillips.

Tuesdays from 7:30pm until 8:30pm

Training for our under 15 boys squad (School years 9 and 10). This will be coached by Nick Fackrell. This will be followed by Senior Men’s training (which takes place from 8:30 until 10:00), players might be invited to stay on to this session by either Nick Fackrell or Luke Rees (Mens team Captain).

Training for our under 13 girls squad (School years 7 and 8). This will be coached by Sharon Phillips.

Thursdays from 7:00pm until 8:00pm

Training for our under 13 boys squad (School years 7 and 8). This will be coached by Stephen Mostyn.

Training for our under 15 girls squad (school years 9 and 10). This will be coached by Kevin Phillips.

Attending other sessions:

Our club is very keen to provide all of our players with a quality of hockey that will provide them with the stretch and development opportunity to develop them as a player.

Players might be invited to attend a hockey session either above or below their age group in order to play at a level which is suitable to their stage in development. This will be by invitation only.

Coaches might ask that where a player is attending a session with players above their age group (to provide an appropriate level of competition), then that player should also attend the session being run specifically for their age group (to provide stretch and competition to the players within that group).

Coaches will advise both the player and their parent where this is the case. Our coaches would welcome any questions and are always happy to discuss this issue.

Other important information:

Hockey Wales 360° Hockey Centres

Hockey Wales are running a 360° hockey centre for players in school years 9, 10, 11 and 12. You can read more information about these sessions here: link, but before you do, our coaches at Abergavenny Hockey Club are running a specific information session regarding attending 360° hockey centres and can provide you with more information then.

These information sessions will run on Tuesday 9th September at 7:30pm, and again on Thursday the 11th September at 7:00pm (to coincide with the relevant age group training sessions). We advise that you attend these information sessions or speak with Nick Fackrell before signing up.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE SESSIONS WILL CLASH WITH SOME OF THE FIXTURES WHICH ARE RUN BY THE SOUTH WALES YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. The dates of the 360° hockey centres can be found in the Hockey Wales priority calendar (Link Here).
