This fixture takes place at 14:00 on Sunday between Wales and England at the National Hockey Centre, Cardiff.
Darren has recently been working towards achieving his level 2 umpires qualification, passing his theory test and is currently awaiting final observation and certification. After becoming the club’s Umpire Co-ordinator, Darren has recently attended the Welsh Hockey Umpires Association AGM in the Sport Wales National Centre where he was invited to attend this Sunday’s Mixed International to begin the process of becoming a ‘Technical Official’.
Darren is keen to take the lead on umpiring within our club and has recently started to develop an umpire’s appointment website, codes of conduct and also co-ordinate a programme of umpire training and mentoring for anyone within our club who wishes to become an umpire / official.

Meanwhile, club members Bethan Cook, Charlie Haydock, Charlotte Halsey, Sharon Phillips (Ladies 1st XI Captain), Alex Morgan, Jayne Yeomans and Jodie Williams (Ladies 2nd XI Captain) are attending their Level 1 umpire training . This is a course run over two separate evenings followed by a short on pitch assessment. We wish our new umpires the best of luck for their training and look forward to them umpiring games for Abergavenny Hockey Club in the upcoming season.
