Thanks to some hard work by Abergavenny Leisure Centre, our hockey pitch has now been marked with two full sets of Junior Hockey Markings. This has been a long term project and coincides with the two new hockey goals used last season.
The efforts have resulted in a much more junior friendly environment, gone are the days where we used cones to mark out a ‘D’ and goalkeepers had no chance because the football goals were too wide for our young goal keepers.
We also have new umpires, both in our youth and senior section, this will allow us to provide umpires for visiting teams and make Abergavenny a much better place to visit for a game.
Our next project is to provide hot and cold drinks and some refreshments at the side of our pitch for our players and parents on those cold winter mornings, which in turn will raise a small amount for club funds. We have a timetable with all of the home games this season, if you are able to help then please speak to any of the junior hockey coaches who are present at training.
As always, all of our players appreciate your support during their games and there are lots of ways that our supporters can help out. This might be in offering to help umpire games, help with setting up the goals and putting them away after use, coaching or even just washing some bibs! All of our players depend on people volunteering to help out. Please get in touch with either Nick Fackrell or any of our club coaches if you are interested in helping with any role at our club.
