Abergavenny Hockey Club are an inclusive volunteer run hockey club. Our sole aim is to ensure that everybody gets the chance to play in a safe and fun environment where enjoyment is the main priority.

Club membership numbers have grown vastly recently and we now have members of all ages and abilities. Abergavenny Hockey Club were awarded a grant of around £300 to deliver a first aid course for its coaches, volunteers and members to ensure that the high standards provided by our club are maintained.

On Sunday 13 members of our club attended our first aid course which was facilitated locally at Abergavenny Leisure Centre by Hands On Training.

All of our hockey sessions can now be covered by a first aider who has received sport specific first aid training.

Ian Saunders, Leisure Services Manager said “Community Chest has helped a lot of new sports clubs to become established within Monmouthshire, whereas other clubs/associations have been awarded grants to help them expand and offer further sporting opportunities.”

Community Chest offers clubs grants of up to £1500.00 in any 12-month period for activities that:
• Encourage more people to become more active, more often
• Raises the standards of existing activities.

Abergavenny Hockey Club would like to thank Abergavenny Leisure Centre for providing discounted facilities for the provision of this course and also Stephan of Hands on Training for running a very enjoyable course. We are very grateful for the funding provided to run this course by our Community Chest Panel.
