Welcome to Abergavenny Hockey Club (Mens First XI)
Abergavenny Men have made a bold choice to enter both a first and second team into the Davis Woods Hockey League for the 2011-2012 season. This comes after the first team finished 5th in South Wales Division 2 in the previous season, with the second team mid table of South Wales Division 3.
Abergavenny are now starting to benefit from its investment in the junior section and during the last season a number of junior players were able to make the step into the senior game and have shown their ability to contribute to both the first and second teams throughout the 10-11 season.
The Club now has a good mix of youth and experience and have set up a Coaching Committee to ensure that coaching is well structured and is able to provide the teams with the competitive edge that they will require for the season ahead. We hope to continue the second team and fulfil all of its fixtures as the club are well aware of the benefit that it provides to new and old members who would are looking to enjoy social hockey. The first team, whilst still being a social side are looking to build on its development over the past two seasons and push towards promotion in the season to come.
