The Abergavenny Men are looking forward to playing with a full squad this week with a total of 16 players available for selection.

They take on Swansea University at their home field of dreams at ‘Old Hereford Road’. In the first leg Swansea were in the form of their season and were positioned safely at the top of the table and played a strong game against a reduced Abergavenny side. However; the Swansea side have only picked up 1 point in their last 3 games, the Blue and Gold home team are looking to make amends by welcoming the students to their King Henry Cauldron to play a first XI which will be re-enforced by equally good substitutes.

Abergavenny also hope to welcome guest and honorary life member Paul Harrington to watch the game.

Abergavenny have been training under the watchful eye of their coach Peter Hewinson who has looked to create a balanced side capable of quick distribution and attacking venom. The side trained hard on Tuesday evening and have been spurred on by the return of their conventional central midfield players ‘Owen Donovan and Kevin Phillips’. Although these players return to the squad, Abergavenny were not short of talent during their absence with Mathew Goldsmith and Rhys Miles Hewinson more than capable of holding the fort. This bides well for the Blue and Gold army as they now have a situation where they can make rolling substitutions and maintain their lightning pace throughout the game.
On this occasion Donovan senior has been released to play his second International fixture when he plays at the Welsh Institute of Sport, on Sunday. Abergavenny wish Charles the best of luck for this game.

Abergavenny would like to thank Trevor Scott and Pat Harrison for umpiring this week and look forward to an enjoyable game.

The men will be staying at the pitch following their game to watch the ladies XI take on ‘top of the league’ Cardiff Athletic in an afternoon thriller, again at Home sweet home, Old Hereford Road.
