League
| Abertillery Town II CC | 62/3 | vs | 61/7 | Abercynon II CC |
Winning ways continue.....
A short & sweet day for the 2nds. Abercynon 61 All Out, Abertillery 62 for 3.
The 2nds welcomed a depleted Abercynon outfit to the Park. With only 8 players, Abercynon were put into bat. The opening attack set to the task of getting quick wickets, and duely obliged. Daffydd Doolan took his opportunity with the new ball in his opening over, bagging Skipper Moses with a snick to keeper Ioan Fisher. Quick wickets continued to fall, Doolan's partner Pat Gough bowled aggressively, with most of his runs going through the slip cordon. The innings closed on 61 in the 13th Over, Doolan finished with 4/37 and Gough with 3/21.
The opening pair of Andy Humphries and Chris Lewis showed their intent to reach the target without loss, patiently waiting for the bad ball. They put on 43 for the 1st wkt, Lewis fell making 18, his rush of blood to Keith Harvey, enabled the keeper to whip off the bails. Dai Morris came in at 3, but he was undone by a full toss from Whatmore. Dan Barrett's run of bad luck with the bat continued, edging the ball into his stumps. The target was reached with Humphries carrying his bat for 27 not out, and Rob Williams 4 not out. 62/3, winning by 7 wickets.
A great result for the 2nds, albeit against an under strength Abercynon side, the players stuck to the task with great focus. Well done boys!!
