Match report by: David Willis
In an exciting match at the Palace the Club Xl, skilfully captained by Navalesh, eventually overcame the newly formed UAE Cubs team captained by the former UAE skipper Ali Assad.
Tight bowling by the Club team and some excellent fielding and wicket keeping contained the Cubs side to a modest total of 170 all out. Joel, Nav, Vijay and Fawad all bowled well and the score seemed well under par.
The home team's innings started badly with the Khan family- Sadiq, Wasim and Sheraz- all failing to register significant scores and the side were reeling at 20-4- Ben Goss and Gareth Picknell steadied the ship but forty runs were still required with only four overs remaining- a tough task. Enter Vijay who blasted the ball to all parts and hit boundaries galore, ably supported by the nimble running of Ben Goss. The Club reached the finish line with ten balls to spare.
