Acklam fail to turn their greater possession into points.

Acklam hosted Redcar to-day in the local Teesside derby and we had the President of Yorkshire RFU as a special guest. We all witnessed two teams who give their all for their clubs, the scoreline reflects the commitment that they both demonstrated. Acklam for consecutive games failed to capitalise on their greater possession and territorial advantage. Their recycling and retention of the ball was very good but what lets them down is that they are not playing in the danger zone enough and lack the killer instinct. The Redcar players had to defend for long periods throughout the game but their defence held good. The Acklam scrum completely dominated and in that alone they should of taken greater advantage of the play.

Both teams showed their intent with either side trying to play open rugby, but after only 5 minutes Redcar burst through to lead 0-7. Acklam scored two penalties through the boot of Danny Ashton but Acklam conceded a second try after 35 minutes, unfortunate for Acklam as the Redcar scrum was being pushed back, but a loose ball was picked up by Redcar which produced the score. H.T. 6-12.

The second half Acklam completely dominated the game but Redcar had their first real visit into the Acklam half on the 65th minute and scored their third try. Acklam fought hard to get back but their late try was only a consolation try.
