Acklam score six tries to win convincingly over 4th placed Rockcliffe

Acklam had the wind advantage at the start of the game but their visitors created enough problems to show that they were determined to make life difficult for the host team. Acklam conceded too many penalties so their momentum was kept in check. Both teams were using the ball well in the 1st half but come the 2nd half Rockcliffe ran out of steam.

Andrew Dalton opened the score in the corner after 7 minutes, then Danny Ashton added three points with a penalty. Rockcliffe's winger showed great pace in the 20th minute as he scored the visitors only points. Dean Roberts got his first try of the game with a superb individual effort in the 36th minute. H.T. 15 -7.

The second half Acklam went up a gear and Rockcliffe struggled to maintain their dogged efforts. In the 55th minute Dean Roberts scored from a real good team effort. In the 72nd minute John Morgan picked up at No. 8 just inside the visitors half, with off loads to chris McRoberts then onto Dean Roberts on the burst, Danny Ashton finished off a superb move. In the 76th minute Dean Roberts danced along the touchline to score his hat trick. Colt, Adam Hutchinson scored the final try when he showed real pace down the the left wing.

Mark Laidlaw who is an experienced player from the Borders made a solid debut in the centre. A special mention to Jamie "Bobo" Bowtell-Potter who has proved over recent games that he is the find of the season.
