New blood brings hope..........
A late Middlesbrough cry off saw a hastily arranged fixture against Guisborough for the Hustlers.
The opening minutes of the game were quite scrappy with much of the game being played in the hustlers half. With the first half drawing to a close centre Jonny Sykes finished a great team move to open the scoring and breathe some much needed life into the game.
Wholesale changes at half time saw senior rugby debuts for Tom Haigh, Brandon Fox, Jajay Glover and Joel Nichols.
Minutes into the second half Jordan 'Asbo' Rae was sent off for a no arms tackle (and a few choice words), leaving Acklam with 14 players and the score at just 5-0.
Sloppy Acklam defence and missed tackles allowed Guisborough back into the game, but they missed their conversion and at 5-5 the Hustlers seemed to really wake up.
Jordan Stevenson broke the line and after tripping for what seemed like 20 metres he managed to stay on his feet and restore Acklams lead.
Some good work from Craig McIvor allowed Brad Pluves to put Liam Cochran in under the posts and increase Acklams lead.
Acklam didn't let off the gas and Tom Haigh rounded off a fantastic debut with a try making the score 24-5.
Man of the match could have gone to anyone who turned up with everyone putting a shift in, however it was deservedly given to Connor Mitchell.
Thanks to everyone who turned up, let's get another good turnout out for Saturday's game. UTA!
