After winning the toss, Adel inserted Leos and Jamie quickly accounted for the Leos opening batsman assisted by a very good catch by Jake. Adel bowled pretty well with Jamie leading the attack well with 5 overs 2 for 11. The odd bad ball was punished by the Leos batsmen and strong hitting took them into a strong position at 83 for 3 with 5 overs left. Adel then bowled themselves back into contention with Adam bowling a great spell of 4 overs 3 for 5. Jake chipped in with two good wickets at the end.
Adel felt confident at half way that this score was getable. After a solid start James chased a widish one and was caught behind. Chris and Sam then continued to pick up runs at a steady rate and ran well and called well, putting on 48 for the 2nd wicket. With the rate still at 6.5 an over to win with 6 to go, we had a couple of bad overs and after the loss of Chris we never quite got back on track. Darkness descended on the ACG and batting became very difficult and we ended up 10 runs short.
With hindsight, maybe one of Chris or Sam needed to push on a bit earlier, but its always easy to be critical after the event. These games are a good learning curve for players and they will learn from and be better for it.
Overall the Leos bowlers probably bowled a bit tighter than we did and had a bit more in terms of "power" hitting when batting.
All round, another good performance from the lads and we will be winning games soon.
Coaches Gold Award - strong claims from Jamie, Adam, Chris & Sam, but for two very good important catches (on a difficult night for fielding) and for two good late wickets it goes to Jake Foggitt
