The quality and number of applications may mean it takes longer to make the final appointment than first hoped. It is likely that interviews will begin as early as tomorrow with further taking place later in the week.

Chairman Paul Smith said: "A number of the candidates have experience of managing in the Combined Counties and higher and this is very encouraging. We are very hopeful that an appointment can be made soon to give the successful person the best chance to be ready for the new season."

The Combined Counties Division One season will begin on 4th August.
