Manager Antony Williams looks back at the first month of pre-season training and is happy with the progress made so far.

"Yesterday saw the first full month of pre-season together, as a management team we have been pleased with the way it has progressed." Williams said as he reflected on the last 30 days.

"Starting on day 1 with 60+ lads, and plenty turned away, we have now started to create a squad that we are hopeful of competing well this season. I have been delighted to secure the majority of my target signings who have plenty of experience at this level, along with some experience lads from the leagues above."

With two games under our belts Williams has had a chance to cast his eye over the players in matches as well as in training.

"Our first two fixtures have seen us learn a lot as a squad. I feel that playing teams of a higher standard always gives you more and highlights areas that you need to work on and targets to aspire too."

The season is fast approaching and he knows there is still plenty to do however. "We now have a batch of friendlies coming up before the season kicks off in just 17 days, that will test our new squad further as we continue to gel this newly formed team. I know the lads are desperate for that first win, but as I keep reminding them, its performances during pre-season that count; the business end starts 4th August."

The first of those batch of friendlies is on Saturday with a trip to Crowborough Athletic with a 2pm kick off. The fledgling squad would certainly appreciate some support at that game and those that follow.
