Popular forward Kieran Ryan has committed to AFC Emley for season 2016-17 and has been appointed as the new club captain by manager Darren Hepworth.

Ryan takes over the arm-band from the departing Michael Tunnacliffe who decided to return to Hepworth United after the last campaign.

Kieran was instrumental in our march to a record 4th place finish in NCEL1 and into the inaugural play-offs. He also weighed in with an impressive 23 goals and numerous assists in Ashley Flynn's record-breaking achievements.

In other season preparation news, the first batch of pre-season friendlies have been added to the site today. More are to be confirmed and, please note, this list is subject to change.

Players old and new will report back for pre-season training on 27th June and they will benefit from the club's new link with Kirklees College.

As part of the deal to create the Kirklees College / AFC Emley Under 19 Academy, the club has secured regular use of the impressive college gym facility at the new Waterfront building. Players will work with our coaches and have access to specialist support from college fitness instructors.

Also under the new partnership, the club now has a training slot on 3G at Leeds Road Sports Complex for a new 'whole club' training night - this will include opportunities for Development Squad and Under 19 players to train alongside the senior team.

Senior squad training is by invitation only. There will be no trials for the first team. Potential Under 19 players are invited to trials organised by the college - more details on the first trial can be found here .
