AFC Emley has appointed a familiar face as the new Development Squad manager as Roly Lanes returns to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground.

On his appointment, Roly said: “I’m delighted to be back. I can’t wait to start shaping a squad and push some great talent towards first team football.”

Chairman, Nigel Wakefield said: “We had a number of really good quality candidates come forward but once Roly made his interest known we moved quickly to secure his return. I’m sure he will do a good job and will fit straight back in.”

Lanes departed Emley in 2015 for coaching roles at Glasshoughton and Worsbrough but will now work with a new-look Development Squad.

First team manager Darren Hepworth said: “Our tie up with Kirklees College means we need to reshape the Development Squad to be a much more youthful side. Roly’s experience working with young footballers coupled with his history up at Emley is the perfect combination and it’s great to get him back.”

Joining Roly at the club is assistant Andrew Newton.
