It’s been another summer of transition for the Under 19s. Richard and his team were only ever going to be involved for one season but it’s no secret our plans for appointing his successor did not initially go to plan.

That has now changed and we’re delighted to have Howard Cartledge at the helm. A manager with strong personal and footballing ties to our corner of West Yorkshire. Howard’s task is to bring stability to this part of the club and then build – and we mean over years, not months – a system that continues to bring talent through to the Development Squad and onto the first team.

We hope results will be positive and, after the highs of the league and cup double last season, the expectation will be there. However, the committee and Daz have given Howard the job of developing players first and foremost.

We’re proud that we do not ask these young lads, or their parents, for any subs to play at or for Emley. It is however an onerous task to get these games on and make sure they “pay their way”. So, if you can help us in any small way with financial or practical assistance, it is very much appreciated. Could you man the gate for a couple of games? Wash the kit once or twice? Give general help on a match day? Do let Howard or any of the committee know if you’re able.

Our Under 19 squad are also available for player sponsorship. This costs £40 and goes a long way to keeping the floodlights on at these evening fixtures.
