Nostell Miners Welfare Vs AFC Emley match preview - by club reporter Hisham Riordan

AFC Emley will make the short trip across to Wakefield Wednesday night when they face Nostell Miners Welfare in a Yorkshire derby. Emley have won the last two meetings between the two sides 9-2, and 5-0. Both sides suffered defeats on Saturday and will be looking to get back on track.

AFC Emley
Despite a valiant performance, Emley slipped to a 2-1 defeat on Saturday, and will be looking to bounce back instantly against a struggling Nostell side. They will go into the game with confidence having put nine goals past their opponents in their previous away meeting.

Striker Lewis Dickinson added to his impressive goal scoring record over the weekend, scoring his sixth goal in eight games, and he will look to make it seven in nine this Wednesday.

Despite his sending off on the weekend, Dickinson’s strike partner Matthew Jackson will be available for selection, as his four game ban does not begin until Saturday.

Emley could have midfielder Jordan Towend back, after he missed their last game when he was injured during warm ups prior to kick off.

One To Watch
A player to look out for Wednesday evening is defender Callum Hall. He's become a regular in central defence and has made six appearances this season. His height will be an advantage and he could be dangerous inside the opposing box as an aerial threat - already with two goals to his name. His eye for goal could cause the Miners problems.

Nostell Miners Welfare
The home side seem to be going through a rough patch to start the season, recording just two wins in eight league games, with seven points from a possible 24.

They were man handled in their last game, losing 8-1 to Selby Town. Nostell will be looking to tighten things up at the back for the visit of Emley, after letting in ten goals in their last three games. A win this weekend would be a much needed confidence boost, and would pull the Miners away from the relegation zone, were they are currently so cautiously hovering.

One To Watch

Though currently struggling, there is a spark within the team, Nathan Smith. The Nostell top scorer has found the back of the net six times this season, and is a crucial part of this team. Emley’s defence will have to be on their game in order to stop Smith, who will be looking to add to his goal tally.
