Brook have feathers clipped by the Curlews
Brook lose again & it is now 5 defeats in 8 starts????
A goal in each half, both scored by Chertsey's John Pomeroy, were enough to condemn the Brook to another defeat & start thoughts of relegation creeping around the club.
To be honest it was certainly not a thriller & both sides struggled to put 2 passes together but overall Chertsey worked harder, were more determined & of course scored 2 goals.
The opening goal arrived in the 30th minute,Chertsey's right winger got down the line, evading a pretty weak attempt to stop him,his cross was deflected into the path of the lurking Pomeroy who prodded the ball home from 6 yards.0-1
The remainder of the half was really very ordinary with the Brook failing to trouble Ramos in the visitors goal & although Chertsey had the majority of ball possession they also didn't trouble Kennedy the Brook's keeper.
The 2nd half wasn't much better as the Brook struggled to keep hold of the ball & regularly tried to do to much & consequently kept on giving the ball away.
On 60 minutes the Brook replaced Rabess & McDonnell with Miles Holmes-Knightly(making his 1st appearance for the Brook) & Quadry(returning after injury. The introduction of these 2 players certainly proved a positive move & it was Holmes-Knightly who was responsible for the Brook's best 2 chances as he first met a cross was unlucky to see the ball hit the underside of the crossbar & rebound clear & then saw the Chertsey keeper make a fine full length save to deny him his 1st club goal.
However in the 70th minute when Cullen broke through & was brought down by the Brook's Artik & the referee awarded thepenalty.
The spot kick was taken by Pomeroy butKennedy diving to his left made an excellent save only to see the ball fortuitously rebound to Pomeroy who prodded into the net.0-2
Although the Brook continued to look for a way back into the game,Chertsey's defence stood firm & the match ended with a deserved 2-0 victory for the visitors.
although the Brook's poor run continued there were a couple of positives to be taken from the game,Josh Quadry & Max Hubbards returning after injury,Charlie Howes & Miles Holmes-Knightly both making their debuts for the club & playing well.
