AFC Hayes lose narrowly to Bedfont Sports
A tight game saw Bedfont Sports edge the game 2-1
While both sides started the game trying to play a passing game it was the home side who looked more dangerous & they took the lead on 10 mins when the Brook defence were caught out on Brdfonts left wing & from the cross Johnson fired past Cameron Kennedy in the visitors goal although there was a strong suspicion of an own goal.
With Bedfont keeping possession the Brook were finding it difficult to create to many scoring opportunities but in the 20th minute they won a free kick 20 yards out but McDonnell's kick was saved by the home keeper Readell.
As the half progressed the game became focused on midfield as both defences were proving difficult to breakdown so the half ended with Bedfont holding a narrow 1-0 lead.
The 2nd half didn't start well for the Brook as after just 5 minutes central defender Mateus Kaczmarek had to be replaced by Max Hubbard. On 58 mins a good move down the left saw Charlie Howes find Harry Bishop but his fierce shot went the wrong side of the post into the side netting.
2 minutes later it was Bedfont who nearly scored but Cameron Kennedy made a fine save turning the ball round the post for a corner.
& On 65 minutes the Brook made a double substitution replacing McCalmon & Charles with Christopher Martin-Thomas & Kamil Kharas both making their debuts for the Brook.Immediately they started making an impression particularly Martin-Thomas whos pace & trickery was giving the home defence problems.
But again it was Bedfont who scored increasing their lead when Lamb was allowed to get his shot away to score past Kennedy in the 75th min.
With 15minutes left & 2 goals behind the Brook needed to test the home defence & now with Martin-Thomas seeing a lot of the ball out on the right that was what they did.On 85 mins their persistence paid off as the Brook were awarded a penalty for hand ball.
Unfortunately Dan McDonnell put his weak kick to near Readell who dived to his left to block the penalty but as the ball ran loose it was Harry Bishop who reacted fastest & fired the ball home.2-1
The Brook were now looking for the equalizer & in time added on the ball fell for Max Hubbard but he hurried his shot which flew high & wide so the game ended in a 2-1 victory for Bedfont.
