Brook's lose at Abbey Rangers,
After their hard won point on Bank Holiday Monday against NGU the Brook travelled to Abbey Rangers narrowly losing 2-1
Abbey Rangers started the game looking much the better side & on 21 minutes opened the scoring when from a pretty ordinary cross Elliott Firth unmarked in the area headed past Cameron Kennedy in the Brook goal.
2 minutes later the home side increased their lead with another headed goal when a corner was headed back across goal & again an Abbey player was left unmarked, this time Vitor Monteiro who had the simple task of heading into the Brook net.
The Brook immediately hit back, playing some neat passing football & in the 27th minute got back into the match when Dean McDonnell made a fine run into the home area beating 3 players before firing past Brace in the home goal.2-1
The Brook were by now looking the better team & on 30 minutes a fine lob by Dean McDonnell beat the keeper but went narrowly over the crossbar.
Then within the space of 10 minutes the Brook had 2 goals disallowed for offside with Dean McDonnell being the unlucky player both times,so the score when the half-time whistle went remained at 2-1 to Abbey Rangers.
The 2nd half started very similar to the 1st with the home side taking early control of the game but unable to penetrate a solid Brook defence in which Mateus Kaczmarek was excelling.
As the match wore on the Brook were working hard for an equalizer but suffered a blow when on 56 mins striker Lyndon Bradley was injured & replaced by Harry Carter.
In the 65th minute a good cross from Dan McDonald found his brother Dean but his header just went wide of the post.
10 minutes later it took a good save from the Brook's Cameron Kennedy to stop the home side increasing their lead.
Although they kept on pressing in the last 10 minutes the Abbey defence held firm & the match ended with the home side taking the 3 points in a 2-1 win.
The Brook have now played 6 league games winning 1,drawing 1 & losing 4 & although the Brook have lost 3 of those games by the narrow margin of 2-1 they are already finding themselves slipping down the table. With our next 3 league games being against 3 sides who have made good starts to the new season it's important we start picking up some points as soon as possible,a settled team would help.
