A fine Brook performance saw them clinch 3 points
The Brook beat a good Balham side to earn their 2nd league win of the season.
A match the Brook needed to win saw them start the game on the front foot when on 6 minutes Mourad Jarraz received the ball on the left hand edge of the area his pass across the area but in trying to clear the ball a Balham defender miskicked & the ball rebounded to Bradley Hand who fired home past Balham's Read.1-0
Scoring an early goal saw the confidence surge into the Brook & they pushed for a second & should have had it in the 17th minute when Jarraz again put in a low cross that found Isaac Olaley who should have shot straight away but took a touch & then shot only for a defender to make the important block.
Balham began to work their way back into the game & were showing what a good side they were & equalized in the 20th minute when once again the Brook conceded a stupid free kick just outside the goal area & from the kick the ball reached James Gallagher who shot across the diving Kennedy and the ball hit the inside of the post, rebounded across the goal onto the other post & went into the goal.1-1
Balham continued to press but the Brook defence held firm with both the 2 central defenders Fosh & Imre dealing well with any high balls that came their way & on the flanks Danny Barham- making his debut for the Brook- & Charlie Howes ensuring the visitors wide players were restricted in their chances to cross the ball.
Up front the new pairing of Bradley Hand & Mourad Jarraz were working well together & on 30 mins it took a good save by Read to deny Jarraz his 1st Brook goal.
On 40 minutes the Brook regained the lead when Bradley Hand played the ball through to Harry Carter who went past the Balham keeper & shot home from an acute angle.2-1
With the 1st half drawing to a close the Brook almost added to their lead when from 20 yards out Bradley Hand hit a fierce shot that beat Read in the visitors goal but crashed into the crossbar & over for a goalkick,so the half ended with the Brook leading 2-1
Misfortune hit the Brook in the 56th minute when Bradley Hand had to be replaced by Dan Carter,Hand suffering from a calf injury he picked up in training.
Balham were having the better of the half & although the Brook defence were coping adequately with their attacks they were defending deeper & deeper allowing Balham the time & space to pressure the home defence.
On 75 minutes the Brook replaced Danny Barham with Luke Thomas-Arayo,Barham making his debut for the Brook played very well, very composed & vocal in supporting his team mates.
In the last 15 minutes of the half Balham created several half-chances but were unable to trouble Cameron Kennedy in the home goal & the final whistle went giving the Brook 3 valuable points.
