Despite the adverse weather conditions & muddy & slippery surface, both teams were intent on passing the ball and playing football the right way.As early as the 2nd minute, the Salts created a half chance.Taryn Smith played a one-two with Ben Dyson which allowed Smith to advance into the Brook area but he was quickly closed down by Reece Fosh and the ball went for a corner which was comfortably cleared by the home defence.
On 4 minutes it was the Brook who created an excellent opportunity when a James Charles pass found Mourad Jarraz & with the forward bearing down on the Salts goal it took a fine save from the visitors Conor Young the Brook a goal.
On 14 minutes the Brook had another good opportunity to open the scoring when the Salts Dale Marvell gave away possession allowing Lusungu Ndovi & Dean McDonnell to exchange passes before Ndovi laid the ball off to Harry Carter, but his strike was easily saved by Young.
The Salts then had 2 excellent chances to score within minutes of each other as first Ben Dyson played a fine through ball to Taryn Smith who rounded home keeper Kennedy but his shot was superbly cleared off the line by James Charles.2 minutes later another chance went begging as Reisse Griffin's free kick was headed down by Lloyd Connolly but Dyson's shot was again cleared off the line by Charles.
On 40 minutes the Brook had an opportunity to open the scoring the ball reached ConnollyMarvell's tame back pass was intercepted by Mourad Jarraz but his shot was well saved by Young.
Right on half-time the visitors had another opportunity to open the scoring when from a free kick that the Brook failed to clear, the ball fell to Connolly but his shot was well saved by Kennedy diving to his left.H-T 0 - 0
The 2nd half started with the rain continuing to pour down it was the Brook who should have opened the scoring when Spencer Maw advanced down the right wing & his cross found Jarraz but he failed to hit the target and the ball went wide.On 55 minutes the Brook created another chance when Dean McDonnell did well to find Harry Carter but his shot went well over the bar.
2 minutes later again it was Dean McDonnell in the thick of the action who received a pass from Charles, beat Griffin's challenge but again Young in the Salts goal saved from McDonnell's shot.
On 60 minutes it was the turn of Epsom to create their 1st chance of the 2nd half when Griffin evaded several attempts to dispossess him but with options to pass to colleagues on either side, chose to shoot from just outside the penalty area but his shot was blazed over the bar.
The heavy conditions were making it difficult for both sides to create scoring opportunities but on 82 minutes it was the Brook who opened the scoring.Substitute Isaac Olaleye did well on the left hand side & when he crossed into the area fellow substitute Ryan Dearden volleyed home from 6 yards giving Young in the Salts goal no chance.1-0
Three minutes later the Brook increased their lead as from a Dearden through ball Maw's run into the penalty area was halted by a foul by Griffin and the referee awarded a penalty.Dan McDonnell took the penalty but his weak shot was saved by the Salts keeper but the ball rebounded kindly to DAN McDONNELL who put the ball into the net.2-0
A hard earned 3 points for the Brook which saw them climb 2 places up the table but with plenty of work to be done if we are to move away from the bottom places.A tough result on Epsom & Ewell who for long periods looked the team more likely to score but wasted opportunities finally cost them the points.
