The Brook gained a valuable 3 points in hard earned win over Camberley Town at Krooner Park
A hard fought game away to Camberley saw the Brook earn 3 much needed points with a Mourad Jarraz 2nd half goal.
In a match that at times seemed the Brook were defending the Alamo they managed to score an all important goal through Mourad Jarraz in the 55th minute and showed great resilience & strength, coupled with a touch of luck,to keep Camberley at bay & hold for the win.
With Cameron Kennedy outstanding in the Brook goal & Mourad Jarraz ploughing at times a lone furrow up front the Brook survived the Camberley onslaught.
The Brook started the match well with the home keeper Desbois saving well from a Jarraz header in the 11th minute. The cross was put in by Darreon Mark. With both sides looking to get forward more chances were created but both defences were looking solid.
On 21 minutes OIllie Jones fired in a shot from the edge of the area but again Desbois was on hand to palm the shot round the post for a corner, which Camberley comfortably cleared.
The Brook's best chance of the 1st half fell to Mourad Jarraz in the 25th minute when a long ball was flicked on by Ronnel Dennis finding Jarraz who was one on one with the keeper but Desbois made an excellent save to keep the score all square.
Chances continued to fall to both sides & both keepers were kept busy & made several good saves to keep their respective goals intact.
On 36 minutes Jarraz played the ball to Dennis but he was unable to get the ball from under his feet & his subsequent shot went well over the bar. With only a couple of minutes of the 1st half remaining Camberley had a chance to open the scorring but Cameron Kennedy in the Brook goal made 2 excellent saves to thwart the Camberley forwards.H-T 0-0
The 2nd half started with both defences playing well but in the 50th minute a Ryan Dearden cross was met by Jarraz but his header hit the crossbar & went over for a goal kick.
However 5 minutes later in the 55th minute it was the Brook who broke the deadlock,a long ball forward was flicked on by Ronnell Dennis to Mourad Jarraz who superbly held off 2 Camberley defenders to shoot across the advancing Desbois into the left hand corner of the goal 1-0 to the Brook.
2 minutes later Camberley thought they had equalized only for the assistant referee to raise his flag for offside.a much needed stroke of luck for the Brook. This setback roused Camberley who proceeded to pressurize the Brook defence & were nearly rewarded in the 65th minute when the Brook conceded a free kick just outside the area. The resultant kick was superbly saved by Cameron Kennedy.
Although Camberley continued to push f or the equalizer the Brook defence remained solid & even had opportunities to break forward, the best being when Haluna Masembe intercepted the ball on the edge of his own area & made an excellent run down the left but was unable to work the ball to Jarraz who was completely unmarked in front of the Camberley goal, the ball being cleared for a corner.
Somehow the referee found over minutes of added time but finally the whistle blew for full time givng the Brook 3 hard earned points.
