:The Brook" cast a spell over Spelly.
Brook win game with 30 yard screamer from Harry Carter in 90th minute
The Brook gained 3 points on Tuesday evening, against Spelthorne Sports, when Harry Carters 30 yard shot flew past the Spelly keeper to earn the Brook a 3-2 win.
After a good point on Saturday against the 10 game unbeaten Sutton Common Rovers it was a confident Brook side that started the game. With only 2 changes in the starting line-up from Saturdays game,Kamil Kharas replacing the unavailable Mateusz Kaczmarek & Herman Tubanza making his debut in place of Ryan Dearden at right back the Brook started well with the midfield quickly into their stride.
With Harry Bishop looking particularly dangerous out wide & Mourad Jarraz his usual feisty self the Brook created several half-chances but twere unable to test Risheet Lal in the visitors goal. After 10 minutes it was Spelthorne who came closest to scoring when Staples shot was saved by AFC Hayes Kennedy.
On 21 minutes Bishop crossed but Lusungo Ndvoi was unable to get a touch on the ball as it flashed across the goal. With both sides struggling to create opportunities the half was drawing to a close when the Brook's Dean McDonnell was through on the keeper but Lal made a brave block turning the ball for a corner that was cleared by the Spelly defence.HT 0-0
The second half was only 2 minutes old when the Brook opened the scoring when an attack down the right wing saw the ball played into Ndvoi who cleverly passed the ball onto Harry Bishop whose fiercely struck shot across Lal ended in the net.1-0
Unfortunately for the Brook they only held the lead for 5 minutes when they carelessly lost the ball in midfield & from the attack conceded a corner. From the kick Lee Staples out jumped the Brook defence & headed down on the ground & the ball bounced over Kennedy into the goal.1-1
3 minutes later in the 55th minute the Brook were ahead again, this time Harry Bishop was the provider. He chased down the Spelly left back who tried to clear the ball but Bishop blocked his intended clearance & the ball fell kindly for Mourad Jarraz who shot past Lal for his well deserved 1st goal for the Brook.2-1
Spelthorne had the better of the game for the next 35 minutes & needed some solid defending from the Brook back four where Reece Fosh & Charlie Howes were outstanding ably supported by Dan McDonnell & Herman Tubanza. However the visitors pressure began to tell & an equalizer was looking imminent & on 80 minutes it arrived when Lewis Flatman beat Kennedy.2-2
With both sides seemingly settling for a point apiece their would be one last bit of drama. The Brook were on the attack but Kharas was penalized for a foul & stupidly threw the ball away & was shown a Yellow Card. From the free kick Spelthorne launched an attack which was broken up by Dan McDonnell who passed to Harry Carter just in the centre circle,he advanced until he was about 30 yards from goal when he sent a screamer of a shot that flew past the surprised Lal & into the net.3-2
The Referee played a couple of minutes overtime & then blew for full time with the Brook 3-2 victors.
A decent game with both sides committed to playing football which maybe have ended all square but for Carters fine 90th minute goal.
