Brook lose to Curlews
A mixed performance from the Brook saw them lose 3-1 at Home to Chertsey Town
A game the Brook needed to win to move out of relegation trouble turned sour in the 1st 10 minutes as they conceded 2 goals.
First Chertsey's Connor Cullen profited from a goalkeepers error in the 3rd minute when the Brook's young stand-in keeper Liam Harris miskicked a clearance straight to him on the edge of the area & he shot into the left hand of the goal.0-1
7 minutes later another defensive error allowed the Curlews Pomeroy to double the lead.0-2
Although the Brook worked hard to recover these early goals they were to suffer 2 further setbacks when in the21st & 35th minutes they lost 2 players to injury. The influential Ryan Phillips was replaced by Dan McDonnell & Charlie Cahill replacing Ryan Dearden.
So at half-time the Brook were still 2-0 down.
After the interval it was the home side who had the majority of the possession as they looked to claw their way back into the game. This they did in the 85th minute when Bradley Hand scored to make it 2-1
However the Brook's defensive frailities returned once again & a minute after scoring the Brook conceded a third goal through Connor Cullen.
A disappointing result for the Brook leaving them just a couple of points above the relegation places.
A word about Liam Harris the young boy who was called upon to stand in for the injured Cameron Kennedy.Yes he made a mistake for the 1st goal but throughout the remainder of the match he showed tremendous ability & bravery especially behind a leaky defence - Well done Liam
