The Brook's losing run contioes as they lose at home to Guildford City
Despite dominating the game for 75 minutes a failure to convert possession into goals & 2 silly defensive errors cost the Brook dear.
The 1st 25 minutes of the match were pretty even as both sides worked hard to turn their possession into scoring opportunities and it was the Brook who had the 1st real chance on 30 minutes when a shot from Adam Mohammed was well saved by Guildford's keeper Liam Beach.
But in the 36th minute the Brook's defence was all to easily breached when the ball was crossed across the face of the goal without any defender getting a block & the ball reaching an unmarked Eli Ogunseye who easily beat Sam House in the home goal.0-1
The Brook immediately hit back & both Mohammed & Montes had chances saved by Beach,By now the Brook were playing some good football but the final ball was letting them down.
On 40 minutes the Brook spurned a wonderful opportunity to equalize,Victor Montes received a pass out on the right wing & sent an exquisite cross into the box just begging to be smashed into the net.Gibson Pasma had made a run into the box from the left wing but his header went past the far post with the Guildford custodian completely beaten.
With the game into 1st half time added on 46 minutes Victor Montes again received the ball out wide on the right he cut inside the defender & curled a shot towards the far post & for once the Brook had a bit of good fortune as the ball clipped a Guildford defender & looped over the stranded Beach into the goal.1-1 H-T 1-1
The Brook started the 2nd half as they ended the 1st & had the majority of possession but still had the same old problem, unable to put the ball in the net.Beach made a fine save from Ndovi but all to often the Brook wanted an extra touch or tried to beat one player to mony with the ball being cleared.
Failure to score & letting in poor goals has unfortunately been a recurring feature of the Brook's game this season & this match was no exception.
On one of there rare attacks in the 74th minute Guildford lost the ball just outside the Brook area, instead of clearing the ball George Harmes tried to pass across the pitch where the ball was easily intercepted by a Guildford player who was then clumsily fouled giving them a free kick about 22 yards out in front of goal.
No Brook player seemed to want to organize a proper wall so Guildford's Bobby Webbe hit a fierce free kick over the wall past House in the home goal.1-2
The Brook continued to dominate possession but still didn't trouble Beach in the Guildford goal. The Brook brought on all 3 substitutes during the last 10 minutes of the match but to no result.
As the game drifted into time added on the Brook suffered a belt of deja vu as in 92 nd minute they again failed to clear the ball & gave away yet another clumsy free kick, again taken by Guildford's Bobby Webbe but this time he had an enormous slice of luck.Although his kick was well taken but the ball ricocheted off a defending player completely wrong footing Sam House as clearly had the kick going to his right covered but the ball flew into the left hand side of the goal.FT 1-3
There's not much to say about this game, the Brook dominated but until we cut out the silly defensive mistakes & find someone who knows where the net is our precarious position isn't going to improve.
