Brook work hard for a draw with 3rd placed Banstead Athletic
A hard won point at home to Banstead Athletic saw the Brook ease out of the bottom 3 on goal difference.
The match started with Banstead on the offensive & on 7 minutes were awarded a free kick just outside the Brook area, unfortunately for them they made a total dogs ear of the kick & the ball broke to Victor Montes who ran 30 yards downfield before passing to George Ademiluyi who crossed to Mourad Jarraz who shot passed Banstead's Fraser Trigwell,1-0
In the 11th minute Victor Montes made a fine run down the right & his cross found an unmarked George Ademiluyi but his shot was saved by Trigwell.
Banstead gradually played themselves into the game7 & it took a good save from the Brook's Josh Bramwell, who put the ball round the post for a corner that was finally cleared.
Both sides were working hard to create chances but half - time came with the Brook still holding onto their slender lead.HT 1-0
The 2nd half started with the Brook attacking the visitors goal & on 50 minutes a cross by Jarraz found Nathan Dennis but his shot was turned round the post for a corner.
By now Banstead had upped the tempo & were pushing for the equalizer but were being thwarted by so0me excellent keeping by the Brook's Josh Bramwell.
In the 70th minute the Referee made a decision that everyone except him found baffling,he showed a yellow card to Austin Schofield for allegedly throwing the ball away after he had awarded Banstead a free kick, unfortunately this was Schofield's 2nd yellow so he received a Red Card,This of course meant that the Brook would have to play 20 minutes with 10 men.
The Brook immediately replaced Jarraz with No 16 Mateusz Kaczmarek & 5 minutes later took off Ademiluyi & put on Gibson Pasma.
Banstead equalized on 76 minutes through Joe Cheeseman 1-1
For the final 10 minutes Banstead put the Brook under continuous pressure as they looked to score the winner but credit to the Brook defence particularly Brook keeper Josh Bramwell they worked tirelessly to deny them any clear cut chances & the game ended all square at 1-1
A tremendous all round performance from the Brook & a well deserved point against the 3rd placed team/
