AFC Hayes losing streak continues as they lose at Knaphill
Although the better side the Brook were unable to break their losing streak at Knaphill going down 2-1.
Despite playing some excellent football the Brook's run of defeats continued away to Knaphill on Saturday.
With both Ronnell Dennis & Lusungu Ndvoi in the starting line-up after their recent return to the Brook the threat up front improved as they both settled into the team straight away.
However it was the home side who created the 1st chance of the game as in the 7th minute the Brook keeper Josh Bramwell had to make a fine save to keep out a Knaphill shot, turning the ball round the post for a corner.
With Harry Carter & Jack Roper pulling the strings the Brook began to play some decent football & on 21 minutes a cross from Montes was headed narrowly past the Knappers post by Gibson Pasma.
The Brook continued to press forward with Ronnell Dennis providing the competitive threat up front the Brook have been missing all season & in the 40th minute a snap shot from Jack Roper went over the crossbar.
As is the way in football if you don't take your opportunities you pay the price & on 43 minutes a through ball found the home sides Nathan Thomas who ran through & scored past the isolated visiting keeper 1-0.
The 2nd half saw the Brook immediately take the game to Knaphill & on 51 minutes Ronnell Dennis was unlucky to his shot beat the keeper but rebound of the post. However 4 minutes later in the 55th minute a good move down the right wing saw the ball find Ronnell Dennis who beat a covering defender on the line & his low cross was met by LUSUNGU NDVOI who shot past the home keeper Holt.1-1
Any neutral watching the game would have expected the Brook to go on & win the game but football's capricious nature deemed otherwise.
Although it was the visitors who were playing the better football ?& looked the more likely to score,Knapphill's defence was proving a rugged barrier to penetrate & their breakaways proving dangerous.
On 70 minutes a Brook attack broke down & no one picked up Knaphill's Nathan Thomas as he sprinted forward & received a pass that he calmly shot past Bramwell.2-1
A couple of minutes later Ronnell Dennis saw his free kick from the edge of the box fumbled by the home keeper but despite two attempts trying to put the ball in the net somehow the ball was cleared.
With the game inching towards full-time Knaphill were awarded a free kick just outside the area but the fiercley hit kick smashed against the crossbar & rebounded to safety.FT 2-1
A disappointing result for the Brook, although the performance was encouraging it was still a defeat that leaves the Brook adrift at the bottom of the table.
