2. The Manor Road Jug

The Manor Road Jug

AFC Keynsham picked up "The Jug", their first trophy in May 2010. The Jug is a friendly match set up between The Mighty K and their old friends the Spartans with the winner taking home the 1940's copper pot.

The first Jug match finished 3-0 to the K's at Manor Road after a first half Gary Brooks hatrick on Sunday 9th May 2010.

AFC Keynsham defended the "Jug" against Spartans FC on 8th May 2011 with a crushing 8-1 victory. The 2nd annual Jug was won with goals from Greg Turner, Gary White, Dave Jenkins, Nial Woodruff, and two a piece from Jay Powell and Louis Turner.

On May 8th 2012 The K's defended the Manor Road Jug again with a 4-1 win over the Spartans at the home of football. The K's goals were scored by Rich Izzard, Ash Allen, and a Martin Withey brace. The score would have been a lot more flattering had Mark Weeks brought his shooting boots.

The 2013 Manor Road Jug was played pre season on 29th August 2013, due to fixtures clashes at the end of the previous campaign. K's once again retained the Old Copper Pot by the skin of their teeth when Spartans missed an injury time penalty that would have levelled the scores. K's winning 3-2 after a Brad Mildon brace, and a Greg Turner winner.

The 2014 Manor Road Jug was played on May 25th on a 3G artificial pitch at Nailsea School due to the grass pitches being shut so late in the season. The K's made it five on the spin with a 5-2 win over the Spartans with two goals from Louis Powell, and strikes from Swanson, Weeks, and Bessex.

Gary Brooks remains the competitions all time leading goal scorer with three goals.

The Jug will be defended again at the end of every season.
