Former top scorer calls it a day.

AFC Keynsham's injury ravaged forward Gary Brooks has finally announced a retirement from competitive football after a full season on the sidelines.

Brooks made 34 appearances for the Sundays between 2008 and 2010 scoring 13 goals making him the clubs top scorer in 2 successive seasons.

Critics of the beanpole striker had passed comment that his 6 goal haul that claimed the 09/10 top scorers trophy had come during friendly matches, but it was enough to wrestle the title from a trio stuck on five.

Gary also played during the glorious days of Charles Saunders and was a regular scorer back on the Grange.

Brooksy proudly sits top of the all time Sunday teams scorer chart despite missing all of the 2010/11 season with a troublesome knee injury.

Gary had thought himself able to recover for next year but his passion for 5 a side has seen him struggle to ever properly regain fitness, and a latest injury sustained at Pro 5 seems to have seen him off.

Brooksy will probably be most fondly remembered for his "hatrick" that sealed the first ever jug match in May 2010, Gaz notching all three goals of a three nil win over Spartans in the first half hour.
