7 Up for the K's

AFCK's impressive start to the league season continued this week as the K travelled to BAWA Athletic and dished out an efficient thrashing.

K's had the run of things from the start and eventually took the lead when Louis Turner set Zach Dorrington in to tuck past an exposed keeper.

Shortly after the ref adjudged a defender to have deliberately handled a K's shot, allowing Jay Powell to come forward and strike from the penalty spot.

Powell was again involved when he launched a long ball down field that was allowed to bounce and carried through for Rich Izzard to slide past an advancing keeper.

Right on the half time whistle Richard Izzard brought the K's shaking reputation back in to disrepute with an awful dive after he had rounded the keeper, the ref generously kept his cards to himself.

Mike Swanson returned to the side with his 99th club goal after showing he hasn't lost his knack for popping up in the right spot to nick a goal.

Natural wide man Joe Treherne popped up with a quick fire brace from the wing, first coming inside to smash a low hard drive in from the edge of the area, then being on hand to tap in the rebound of Zach Dorrington's shot just a minute or so later.

The rout was completed when Dorrington was brought down in the box allowing goal keeper Jay Powell to come up and score his second of the game.

The K's offered BAWA very little in the way of attacking opportunities and were good value for the win that leaves the Manor Road outfit legitimately top of the league.
