First weekend back from break see's double defeat and cup exit.

AFC Keynsham returned from a 3 week absence after rain, Christmas, and New Year to a disappointing start to 2012.

The K's took a 2-0 beating from bottom of the table Brandon Sports on Saturday at Manor Road, even conceding a goal to K's Sunday player Denny Murdell.

The K's threw a lot forward toward the end and caused many goal mouth scrambles but just could not get the ball in the net. Martin Withey's thunderbolt free kick coming back off the bar was the closest K's came to getting back in the match.

The returning Josh Evans was named man of the match.

Sundays always faced an uphill battle away at Stoke Lane Athletic in the Three Lion's Cup, it proved so with classy Athletic keeping the ball away from the K's for 90 minutes.

The final score was 5-1 with a lot of credit going to man of the match Darren Wesson for keeping it from being embarrassing.

The K's goal was a Jay Powell penalty when an Athletic defender went through the back of the bean pole striker for no apparent reason.

The K's will hope for better next Saturday as they take on Rockleaze Rangers away.
