November Summary

2 weeks ago By Dave Morley

Back down to earth with a bump

November saw a total of 15 matches played, with 4 wins, 3 draws and 8 defeats. The two plus points for the month were the first team progressing in the Derbyshire Sunday cup and the Under 11's becoming joint winter league winners

First Team

The first team unfortunately had problems in getting enough personnel in place for their matches in November. As a result of this, their league matches all ended in heavy defeats. The first, a home 6-2 defeat against one of their local rivals in Shipley Rovers. Following that, a second local rival, high flying Castle. The result, a 5-1 defeat. The following week gave a respite from the league in the Derbyshire Cup against Creswell Black Diamond. A 4-3 win sees Kirk Hallam through to the third round. The final weekend of the month saw an away match against Steamboat. Being short of numbers left them finishing the month with a 6-1 defeat

First team record for November is

P4 W1 D0 L1 GF8 GA20 Pts0 - Top scorer is Robson Grey on 4.

Reserves

The reserves also had a disappointing month in which they played 3, won 0, drew 2 and lost 1. Unfortunately, the defeat was against local rivals West Hallam, in a match that ended 4-1. The remaining two matches were both 3-3 draws, away against Long Eaton Magpies and Erewash 2012, which sees them slipping to sixth in the league. With a league cup match against Erewash coming up, they will have a chance to finally beat them this season after two draws so far

Reserves record for November

P3 W0 D2 L1 GF7 GA10 Pts2 - Top scorer for the month is a 7 way tie between Simon Chambers, Jason Bowler, Nick Wheatley, Chris Johnson, Ant Ridgway, Mark Walker and Vaughen Crompton, all on one.

Veterans

The veterans have continued their 100% record. They only played one match due to Holbrook pulling out of a fixture due to having no goalkeeper even though they had fourteen players. The remaining match was a 4-2 victory over Hilton Harriers. This result saw them move four points clear at the top of the league.

Vets record for November

P1 W1 D0 L0 GF 4 GA2 Pts3 - Nick Ghislanzoni topping the scoring with 2

Under 16's

The under 16's are looking back on a painful month, in which they lost all four of their fixtures. A 4-0 home loss against Southwell City Lions was followed by a narrow 3-2 away defeat against Ruddington Village Colts. This was followed up by another away defeat, this time, 5-0 against Beeston and then 11-0 at home against top of the league Keyworth United. Kirk Hallam only had 9 players available for this final match of the month. The lads who did play kept going until the final whistle, and despite the result, should be proud of themselves for their effort and attitude.

Under 16's record for November

P4 W0 D0 L4 GF2 GA23 Pts0 - Ian Bailey top scorer for the month with 2.

Under 11's

The Under 11's stretched their unbeaten run to 6, with only three matches in November after the home match on the 4th was cancelled due to flooding. This break seemed to disrupt them as the following week they were caught napping against Gedling Southbank Blue and were 4-0 down after ten minutes. They managed to drag the game back and were 5-4 up until the final few minutes when the opposition equalised to make it 5-5. This result would prove to be costly. The next two matches were against the bottom two teams in the division. A 3-2 home win against Woodhouse Colts set up a final match of the season which was expected to be played for second place. A 4-3 win against Arnold Town Blue actually secured joint top of the division with Beaufort United. Although finishing 2 goals better off than Beaufort, the latter won the head to head match and league rules placed them top although officially, they were the same. The draw with Gedling, or the loss against Beaufort can be attributed to this joint finish and not a clean top placing. A champions playoff now has to be played on the 16th of December. Both teams have been promoted to the Spring division 2, therefore making the playoff less of an important match as both will receive trophies for their finish for the Winter season. The Winter cup is up next.

Under 11's record for November

P3 W2 D1 L0 GF12 GA10 Pts7 - Top scorer for November is shared between Ben Morley and Will Dudley, both on 5.
