Coed edge out Cambrian to go top

AFC Llwydcoed under 12's traveled away with a depleted squad but still performed superbly well to win 2 1 against a brave Clydach side that sent them to the top of the league.
Goals in either half from forwards Jac Phillips and Jayden Burton ensured the three points came to Coed. Jac Phillips got his first goal for the club after being installed as strike partner to Amir Saleh and they comhined well to open the scoring.
Coed's football on an excellent surface was a pleasure to watch and deserved more goals. The midfield of Harrison Jones, Luca Phillips and Dylan Mellish were excellent, particularly Luca Phillips who used his physical presence to win the midfield battle and set up attacks, and indeed he almost scored his first goal of the season when he struck a fierce volley which the keeper saved well.
However, the second goal didnt arrived and before half time Cambrian equalized with an excellent long range strike which dipped over Callum Pritchard.
In the second half Coed continued to dominate and with the introduction of Burton Coed gained fresh impetus. He worked hard to cause the opposition defence problems and his effort paid off when his shot was lifted into the far corner of the net.
There were more chances to come as Saleh went close on a few occasions, including one strike which came back of the post. Wide men Seb Hobbs and Chandler Langford Evans caused problems for the opposition too as they used thier pace and direct running to get to the bye line on a number of occasions.
At the other end Coed were solid in defence, marshalled superbly by Lucas Evans but it was left back Levi Jones who brought the composure to proceedings with his first class distribution.
All in all a well deserved win for an impressive young team. Final score, Coed 2 Cambrian 1.
