Llwydcoed continued their recent revival with another exciting victory against Treowen

Llwydcoed continued their recent revival with another exciting victory against Treowen, the victory was gained thanks to goals from Robert Evans (1) Christopher Banfield (1) and Jonathan Mason (2) one of Llwydcoed’s longest serving players he has played for the Club from Junior Football to Welsh League.

AFC Lllwydcoed Manager Mr Mark Tawnton was forced to change his winning team with Captain Lewis Holder injured and Leon Bansal suspended so Robert Evans and Andrew Cayford received the call up. Richard Morgan moving into midfield. Both teams started brightly on a difficult surface, Treowen attacked Llwydcoed and were awarded a free kick that flew high out of the ground. Llwydcoed responded and Jonathan Mason moved forward and hit a left footed screamer into the top corner past Treowen goalkeeper Chris Houles. An early goal settled Llwydcoed their movement was a problem for Treowen with John Marczak finding space, Scott Walters picking him out forcing Treowen back on the defensive he was also involved with Jonathan Mason. Llwydcoed’s midfield was on top Richard Morgan and Matthew Doherty winning the possession and Scott Walters picked out Robert Evans to score with a bullet header, Llwydcoed had scored when the opportunity arrived. Treowen tried to test the Llwydcoed defence that stood firm, although they had a penalty award turned away, Llwydcoed finished the half well on top.

Treowen flew out of the blocks at the start of the second half using early substitutions. Llwydcoed players were punished for some sloppy play and Gary Evans reduced the score line. Treowen were on top they had galvanised themselves and Llwydcoed’s defence was under pressure when they did win the ball they lost it and gave it back to Treowen who attacked for a long period of time. They were winning more possession than Llwydcoed, Llwydcoed goalkeeper Martyn Phillips and his central defenders Ryan Barry, James Docherty plus Richard Morgan were again superb. Llwydcoed’s Scott Walters was replaced by Christopher Banfield returning from injury in his place. A few minutes later Chad Rombach replaced Robert Evans. Llwydcoed had moved through a difficult passage of play, Luke Davies, Jonathan Mason and Matthew Doherty began to pass and move and won a free kick that Christopher Banfield took charge of and his quick thinking caught out the Treowen goalkeeper to score a vital goal brilliantly. Treowen showed good character trying to open the Llwydcoed defence without any joy. Llwydcoed replaced the excellent John Marczak with Adam Walters the final goal was Llwydcoed’s it belonged to Jonathan Mason moving inside to score with another left footed shot. Llwydcoed had scored the goals at the vital parts of the game to gain a deserved victory.
