History - History 1

The 2009/10 Season represented a period of change that more than lived up to it's early season form.
Being awarded the Hampshire Sunday Junior 'B' Cup Final by 'default' was not in it's self a second best prize.
We worked hard to get to our 1st Major Cup Final so we received recognition for that by playing/competing in the right manner.
Awarded 'Sunday Team of the Month' together with 'Manager of the Month' for September 2009 another added bonus.
With silverware secured, our aim is to move on and win more in the future hopefully in 2010/11.
The only significant change this season will be Barry Tucker taking over from Glenn Donovan as Team Manager.
Barry will be assisted by Coach David Staddon in what will be his 2nd Season with the Club.
Glenn will move to the position of Hon.Club Secretary.

This next Season marks our 10th Anniversary of competition which dates back to 2001 when a group of Ringwood Youth Team players had reached under 18 level with limited options, and a desire to continue playing football together.
They decided to form their own Adult Football Club with Ben Tucker - current Club Captain - and many of the present squad bringing together other dedicated individuals from the Ringwood area.

The players shared a collective team spirit that saw them reach Cup Semi-Finals, and just missing out on League Division titles.

There are many reasons why success, and awards have eluded the efforts put in from season to season.
However, the dressing room remains as strong as ever with Team leadership never an issue.

It was decided in early 2009 that an outside interest in the form of an experienced Manager/Coach might galvanise, improve potential and bring a New direction to the players and Club.

With 6 matches left of the 2008/9 campaign a prospective New Manager/Coach made an approach to the Club and got involved with the Team.
A different playing style, and a more disciplined approach to matches showed a gradual improvement that inspired the players to build a better future ahead.
The Team performance in the final League match of the Season gave confidence in the belief that there were better, and exciting times ahead.

With New leadership, New added squad players, New sponsorship and a New website, the platform for change was established.

Everyone connected with AFC Ringwood are pleased with the effort put in during 2009/10. We now looking forward to the challenge's, prospects and possibilities ahead for 2010/11 and beyond.

Season 2009/10 - 'Team of the Month' - 'Manager of the Month' both Awards for September 2009.
