10 man wingmaker's keep clean sheet to earn the win.
Another great show of character from the Youth side in a difficult Friday evening game brought the 3 points back to The Airfield. In a game that the referee had a big influence on, issuing 3 red cards and numerous yellow cards in a mild mannered game, the young wingmaker’s for the second time already this season had to play for over 60 minutes with 10 men after a very dubious red card was handed to Airbus Player Joe Roberts for a tackle when he clearly won the ball on the half hour mark. The early stages of the game saw the home side start strongly and create a number of chances with some good play down both flanks. Airbus composed themselves and started to play themselves back into the game with some excellent football through the midfield with players Lee Jones and Toby Vickery starting to dominate the central areas. In an even game for the first thirty minutes, things looked to get a little trickier for Airbus when Joe Roberts received his red card but the lads reacted superbly and two minutes later won a free kick on the edge of the Offa penalty area which Lee Jones rifled into the back of the net with a great strike to put the Wingmaker’s into the lead which they held till half time. The second period saw Offa regroup and look to play more directly but captain Connor Hughes and fellow centre half Joe Davies organised the defence superbly which frustrated Offa. As the game continued, Airbus continued to deny Offa and actually could have seen their lead increase with a number of good chances created by centre forward pairing Liam Schofield and Alfie Mcnicholas. With 15 Minutes remaining in the game, Offa looked like they had gotten their breakthrough when the Ref awarded a soft penalty to the home team but the Offa winger hit the post and Airbus managed to clear the rebound. In the closing stages of the game the referee then evened the sides up when an Offa player received a second yellow card and then in the final minute issued a third red card in the game after an innocuous challenge on the Airbus keeper. Man of the Match: Joe Davies
