Player and spectators alike basked in the early morning spring like sunshine, the cold dank conditions of Cleckheaton seemed like a lifetime ago as did the frozen pitch of last weekend.

The players were delighted to get back into the swing and the winter training paid dividends with some excellent ball handling and defensive work. Aireborough ran out comfortable victors scoring 12 tries to 2 with Will (3), Jake (2), Nic (2), Joshua (2), Josh, Matthew and Carter making the score sheet. The support lines worked well and there was always players waiting to receive the ball and the defensive line kept its shape.

The standard of rucking was noticeably improved with a number of players stepping over the ball (from behind the back foot!) which helped recycle possession quickly and led to some of the scores.

Bramley were excellent in the maul with good body angles and a real physical presence together with some good breakaways and crisp passing.

A big thank you to Castleford who made us all so welcome.
