Aireborough 7s touch and pass tournament. ko 3pm Saturday 29th July, beer and BBQ from 2.30pm

The annual 7s touch and pass tournament is now a mainstay in the events calendar at Aireborough, and this year promises to be another fun day of rugby.

This year, 56 (and counting) players will be involved in the tournament, which also sees the introduction of our U17s for the first time, in a side headed up by 1st XV skipper Ollie Catherall and fellow U17 coach Jonny Mackey.

But will "the future", the team name for the combined U17 and old-hand side, run away with the spoils? Or will "slightly-less-youthful" (and in some cases, significantly less youthful) prevail over outrageous side-steps and gas.

"The Experience" lead by 1st XV vice-skip Chris Chapman may have (as some of the pre-match talk suggests) more quantity than quality, but that won't be said of the BBQ and beer on offer on the sidelines, which will be both top-notch and plentiful.

The other teams are made up of junior coaches, new players, and others who, now Love Island has finished, need something else to keep them busy.

With one month to the start of the junior and senior season, Saturday is a chance to impress before the upcoming run of senior preseason games, and the season start proper in September.
