Aldwinians travelled to Rochdale in confident mood. With a strong 22 it looked possible. Aldwinians had the first chance at points in the opening 5 minutes with a Brad Cook penalty falling short from the half way line. However this was the last time we threatened the score board for most of the half. With continued mistakes and silly penalties it allowed Rochdale to have all the possession and territory. It was due to this that they socred the first try of the game witch was converted. The continued errors came into the game from the visitors allowed rochdale to camp in their 22. Then just before half time number 8 Jake Cassidy was sin binned. From this rochdale scored a penalty to go 10 0 up. From the restart Aldwinians pilled on pressure trying to get a score and it led to a simple penalty for Brad Cook. At half time the score was 10 3.

In the second half Aldwinians came out with a lot more purpose. This was backed up with the return to the field of play of Jake Cassidy. However a silly penalty allowed rochdale to go out to a 13 3 lead. Aldwinians were now seeing all the ball. We would get into good scoring positions through centre Mark Farrell and number 8 Jaske Cassidy however mistakes lead to us not scoring the points we needed. With time running out we were camped on their line and looked like scoring untill a pass was intercepted from their centre and he went the full length for an unconverted score. With time almost up Aldwinians pushed for a consolation try, however time was up. The final score 18 3 to rochdale.
