All the action this weekend came from The Academy

On Saturday, the U18 game against Uddingston was called off at late notice by the opposing team and, without any scheduled games for the 1XV and 2XV, all the action at the weekend was left to our Junior Sections, on Sunday.

The sunny weather and a firm pitch at Allan Glen’s suited U16 Glenzie’s style of play and they ran out convincing winners against East Kilbride on Sunday winning 37-3. With 2 tries each from Auld , Watson and Don this was a good team performance by Glenzie, showing maturity in parts of their game with the forwards providing a solid platform and the backs handling well against one of the strongest oppositions in the league. Next game is at home on the 16th Nov against Dalziel.
Whilst the try count suggested a convincing victory for the visitors, the S2 teams from Whitecraigs and Glen’s played an entertaining game, with some assistance from the Glen’s S3 team. it only took a couple of minutes for Callum to score his first of 4 tries during the game. From a solid scrum the ball was slickly passed along the line to Callum who left a number of defenders in his wake to put the first points on the board. Glens defended resolutely when Whitecraigs started to dominate, however, Whitecraigs exposed some poor tackling from Glens to cross the line on three occasions before the break. Final Score AGRFC 5 tries – Whitecraigs 9 tries.

Glen’s S1 also played Whitecraigs this weekend. The visitors took the first points from good passing play. After a break from their winger, Moore gave chase and managed a brave tap tackle, only for the winger to recover and make a pass for the visitors to score. Unfortunately for Whitecraigs, The Glen’s Boys weren’t for taking a beating today! With Nelson and Coffield leading the way at the front & captained on this occasion by McManus; great direct play from Storrie and conversions from Fisher added to the scores. Alfer gave a MotM performance with three assists, six conversions and three tries.
Final score 31 – 10.

All the action returns to the Bearyards, on Saturday 15 November, with the 1XV league game against Kilmarnock. The U18s are away to Cambuslang/Strathaven.
