In a thrilling but ill tempered game at Bishopbriggs Glen’s survived a second half onslaught by the visitors to gain a much required win.

The first half saw Glen’s having a big territorial advantage but failed to extend their score line beyond the one excellent try when Murrell broke through the Helensburgh defence , offloaded the ball to Hamilton who outpaced the remaining defence to score. Thomson converted.

After the break it was Helensburgh who took the initiative and put Glen’s under severe pressure but the home team’s last ditch defence always managed to dissipate the visitors attempts to score.

In the home side it was Jack Mooney’s first game for the senior side and a fine job he did of it too. Veteran Scott Henderson also played his part by coming on as a sub at prop but the player of the match was Donald Ross, also a veteran, who had a great game playing out of position at No8.
