Allan Glens 2XV 28 - East Kilbride 10
Glens 2XV start the New Year with a great win!
After a lot of work by the team managers and a flurry of last minute changes, Glens fielded a solid team with a sprinkling of youth and a few old hands for the first game of the New Year against East Kilbride.
The Glen’s forwards made good ground throughout the game and the backs made the most of the quick ball to out pace their rivals. It was a simple, direct game played with more pace than East Kilbride could handle. At the set piece Glens’ struggled at the line outs but were dominant in the scrums. The home team went into half time with three tries to East Kilbride’s one and a try each in the second half saw Glens run out 28-10 winners.
Well done to Calum Kirk, Duncan McKinstry and new comer Nicky who all scored their first senior tries for the club, with old timer Drew Letham popping up to prove he’s still got it too. There were a number of good performances throughout the team but the standouts were John Stalker in the forwards and man of the match Steve McInnes.
The bonus point win sees Glens put some important breathing space between themselves and the bottom of the table teams.
Well done guys!! And a big thanks to everyone who worked hard to get teams and pitches ready for today.
