2's push Perthshire all the way
Alloa’s second string completed the first half of their season with another gutsy performance at the North inch.
Only a penalty goal separated the sides at the break as both sides scored two tries apiece. Michael Doig burst through for the first try and then Myles Hynd scorched over for a brilliant score, outstripping his opposite number and then cutting inside the covering defence. Lee Cairney slotted one conversion.
Perthshire struck first in the second period, however a fantastic break by Martin McKenzie and tremendous continuity play from the supporting players gave room to Marc Murray to burst through in the centre. Lee Cairney again converted.
At 20-19 down Alloa had a real chance of scoring their first league match of the season, however two late tries for the home side won the day.
Alloa now await detail of fixtures post the league split which see teams from the East league on similar standing line up against their West counterparts.
