Alloa Rugby Club had combined squads of 40 players for their league fixtures against Kinross and Glenrothes respectively.
The 1st xv were unlucky to have their match at Kinross abandoned after 30 minutes after the match official had to retire after pulling a leg muscle. Therefore centre stage went to the fast improving 2nd xv who fielded their strongest side of the season.

Alloa and Glens shared eight tries in a great contest that saw the Fife side snatch a draw with two tries in the final five minutes.
The home side led 10-7 at the break thanks to tries by James Shaw and Mark Allan. Gregor Sneddon’s try briefly took Alloa two scores clear but Glens hit back straight away. Rab Truesdale then burst through for a fourth try converted by Lee Cairney that earned a bonus point but the late show from Glenrothes snatched away what would have been a deserved victory. The strength and performance of the 2nd xv is a significant stage in the continued development of Alloa R.F.C.
This Saturday the 1st xv entertain Stirling University in the Caledonia Bowl Competition (note early kick-off time of 1-30pm) and the 2nd xv wrap up phase one of their league campaign when they travel to Perthshire (kick-off 2pm).
