Match report V Glenrothes
Alloa finally succumb to powerful Glenrothes side.
Alloa put in a spirited first half display, where they were very much the better side. However, Glenrothes showed in the second half exactly why they are sitting second top of this league with 2 games in hand.
Alloa started the match on the front foot and for long periods of the half dominated possession and territory, but failed to capitalise where it mattered – in the opposition “22. The only points registered in the opening half hour were from a long distance, Alan Keir penalty.
Despite their dominance during this period the Fifers hit the home side with a double sucker punch right on the half time whistle when they ran in 2 tries against the run of play.
However, the same cannot be said during the second half when the visitors sizeable Pack started to exert some pressure on the Alloa scrum and they were ultimately rewarded with 3 well worked tries. In reply, Alloa could only manage a solitary score when Grant Smith bulldozed his way over from short range.
Alloa will be tested once again this Saturday when they make the short trip to face another promotion chasing side, Grangemouth Stags. 2pm KO
